HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
Boston College swept Massachusetts, 7-3 and 4-0, thanks in part to four points (2g, 2a) from Ryan Conmy, who scored Friday’s game-winning goal had a season-high three points on a goal and two assists in Saturday’s 4-0 win. Senior Paul Davey, in just his ninth career game, scored his first career point, the game-winning strike, on Saturday.
UConn took five points from No. 11 Northeastern off four goals from Jake Percival, including a hat trick and game-winning goal in Friday’s 4-2 win. He then scored the game-tying goal with an extra attacker to complete a comeback at Matthews Arena, forcing overtime where Joey Muldowney played hero in his first game since Nov. 7.
Maine and Vermont split a two-game set at Alfond Arena. Black Bears’ freshman Miguel Marques scored four points (1g, 3a) on Friday in a 7-0 victory with Albin Boija making 29 saves. The next night, Axel Mangbo and Aiden Wright combined for 43 saves on 44 shots in a 2-1 victory for the Catamounts.
Merrimack earned a weekend split with No. 15 Providence, as goaltender Max Lundgren made 59 total saves. He kicked out 38 shots on Saturday in a 3-2 win and also collected an assist on the game’s opening goal. Friday saw Friars freshman Roger McQueen score his first two NCAA goals and add an assist in the 4-2 win.
New Hampshire’s Nick Ring posted one goal and three assists for
four points on Friday in a 6-3 win at RPI. He recorded an assist on the
game-winning goal and also added an empty-net goal. The three assists
and four points for Ring were both a career-high and he tallied his sixth
career multi-point game.
HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jake Percival - UConn
Jake Percival (Sr., F; Avon, Conn.) finished the weekend with four
goals during a sweep of No. 11 Northeastern, including a hat trick and
the game-winning goal on Friday in a 4-2 win. He then followed that
up with the game-tying goal in the third period with the net empty on
Saturday that helped the Huskies erase a three-goal deficit. His tally
forced overtime that led to Joey Muldowney’s game-winning goal.
PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Miguel Marques - Maine
Miguel Marques (Fr., F; Prince George, B.C.) had a four-point game
in Maine’s 7-0 win over Vermont, scoring a goal and adding three assists. He finished the split weekend with a plus-three rating and three
shots on net.
ARMY ROTC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Ryan Philbrick - New Hampshire
Ryan Philbrick (Fr., D; Concord, N.H.) netted the game-winning goal
and added an assist for two points on Friday in a 6-3 win at RPI. He
also led the Wildcats with five blocks on the week with three at RPI
and two at Union. Philbrick leads the team with two game-winning
goals.
STOP IT GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Louka Cloutier - Boston College
Louka Cloutier (Fr., G; Sherbrooke, Que.) earned two wins over the
weekend, posting a 13-save performance in Friday’s 7-3 win before
recording a 32-save road shutout on Saturday.
HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS
Ryan Conmy, BC (Jr., F; Alexandria, Va.) Had a team-high four points (2g, 2a) in a sweep of UMass. He scored Friday’s game-winning goal on the power-play and followed up with a season-high three points on a goal and two assists in a 4-0 win.
Luka Radivojevic, BC (Fr., D; Trencin, Slovakia) Posted two assists on Friday along with one on Saturday. The freshman finished the weekend with a plus-five rating to help the Eagles pick up six league points.
Drew Fortescue, BC (Jr., D; Pearl River, N.Y.) Finished weekend sweep with three points with a goal in Friday’s 7-3 win and two assists in a 4-0 win Saturday.
Alexandre Blais, UConn (Fr., F; Longueuil, Que.) Had two assists in Friday’s 4-3 win to help the Huskies over No. 11 Northeastern.
Tyler Muszelik, UConn (Sr., G; Long Valley, N.J.) Finished the weekend 2-0-0 against No. 11 Northeastern with a 2.46 GAA and a .907 save percentage, making 49 total saves.
Jeremy Langlois, Maine (Fr., D; Ste-Brigitte-de-Laval, Que.) Posted one goal and two assists for three points in a 7-0 victory on Friday night over Vermont. He finished the split weekend with a plus-three rating and one block.
Albin Boija, Maine (Jr., G; Sundsvall, Sweden) Posted a 29-save shutout on Friday in a 7-0 win and stopped 26 of 28 on Saturday. He paced the league last weekend with a .965 save percentage and 1.02 goals against average.
Dalyn Wakely, UML (Fr., F; Port Hope, Ont.) Netted an unassisted goal on Friday at Union.
Samuel Richard, UML (Sr., G; Ste-Catherine, Que.) Stopped 22 of 23 shots he faced on Saturday in a 2-0 setback.
Trevor Hoskin, MC (So., F; Belleville, Ont.) Potted two goals in a 3-2 win over Providence on Saturday, including the game-winning goal.
Ethan Beyer, MC (Fr., D; Denver, Colo.) Scored his first college goal for the Warriors in a 3-2 win over Providence on Saturday night.
Max Lundgren, MC (Jr., G; Angelholm, Sweden) Started both games in a weekend split with Providence, making 59 total saves. He kicked out 38 shots on Saturday in a 3-2 win and also collected an assist on the game’s opening goal. It was his second assist of the season.
Nick Ring, UNH (Jr., F; Hingham, Mass.) Posted one goal and three assists for four points on Friday in a 6-3 win at RPI. He recorded an assist on the game-winning goal and also added an empty-net goal. The three assists and four points for Ring were both a career-high and he tallied his sixth career multi-point game.
Sam Oliver, UNH (Fr., F; Saint John, N.B.) Scored his first two collegiate goals on Friday in a 6-3 win at RPI. With only 17.8 seconds remaining in the first period, Oliver netted his first collegiate tally to give UNH a 2-1 lead then at 13:16 of the third period he scored UNH’s fifth goal of the contest.
Dylan Compton, NU (Fr., D; Victoria, B.C.) Scored two goals in as many games against the No. 14 UConn Huskies. He netted NU’s opening tally on Friday to record his first collegiate goal. He added three shots on goal and four blocked shots.
Roger McQueen, PC (Fr., F; Saskatoon, Sask.) Registered his first two NCAA goals and added an assist in Friday’s 4-2 win over Merrimack. He finished the weekend with 10 shots on goal and a plus-two rating while winning a league-high 25 faceoffs.
