HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
Cole Hutson scored the game-winning goal and was named Tournament MVP for a five-point performance (3g, 2a) while Mikhail Yegorov made 43 saves for Boston University as the Terriers down No. 1 Boston College, 4-1, in the Beanpot championship game in front of 18,258 at TD Garden on Monday night.
Merrimack completed a weekend sweep of ranked opponents, toppling No. 8 Boston University in overtime and No. 18 New Hampshire on the road. Zach Bookman set up both game-winning goals while Hunter Wallace scored his first two career goals in just his third NCAA game on Saturday.
No. 5 Maine went 1-0-1 at No. 7 Providence off the back of three goals from Taylor Makar and a league-best 57 saves from Albin Boija. Makar’s goals proved crucial as he tied the game twice in a 3-3 tie with a shorthanded goal and an extra-attacker strike before then scoring the overtime winner in a 1-0 win the next night.
Massachusetts head coach Greg Carvel claimed his 250th win as an NCAA Division I men’s head coach on Friday with a come-from-behind effort over UConn. He owns 164 victories in nine years with the Minutemen after 86 crowns in five years with St. Lawrence.
UMass Lowell head coach Norm Bazin was behind the bench for
his 500th game as the River Hawks’ boss on Friday, which was also
Pearson Brandon’s 150th career contest.

Jack Musa - Massachusetts
Jack Musa (So., F; Orange Park, Fla.) posted his first collegiate hat
trick to help UMass rally from a 2-0 deficit on the road at No. 11 UConn and help earn head coach Greg Carvel’s 250th career win as an
NCAA head coach, 5-4. Musa scored the first two goals of the game
for the Minutemen and then completed his hat trick 4:24 into the third
to give UMass its first lead of the contest. He was plus-two and scored
his three goals on five shots, won two of three faceoffs he took and
blocked two shots.

Hunter Wallace - Merrimack
Hunter Wallace (Fr., F; Oak Lake, Man.) scored his first two career
goals in just his third career NCAA game in a 5-4 win at No. 18 New
Hampshire on Saturday night. Both goals knotted the game for the
Warriors.

including the primary assist on both game-winning goals, in Merrimack’s weekend sweep of ranked opponents. He set up the score 20
seconds into overtime against No. 8 Boston University and two more
in a 5-4 win at No. 18 New Hampshire.

Max Lundgren - Merrimack
Max Lundgren (So., G; Angelholm, Sweden) went 2-0 with wins over
ranked opponents No. 8 Boston University and No. 18 New Hampshire this weekend, making 54 saves on 59 shots.
HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS
Ryan Leonard, BC (So., F; Amherst, Mass.) Wrapped a two-game week with four points on one goal and three assists. Leonard led all scorers in Monday’s Beanpot game against Northeastern with one goal and two assists. He followed that up with an assist in the win over UNH on Friday.
Teddy Stiga, BC (Fr., F; Sudbury, Mass.) Tallied one goal and one assist in an 8-2 win over Northeastern in the Beanpot semifinal. He started the scoring just 46 seconds into the game.
Lukas Gustafsson, BC (Jr., D; Atlanta, Ga.) Recorded four points and eight blocked shots in two wins for the Eagles, including one goal and one helper with five blocks in an 8-2 win over Northeastern in the Beanpot semifinals. He added two assists and three blocks in a win at New Hampshire.
Jacob Fowler, BC (So., G; Melbourne, Fla.) Earned two wins last week to move to 19-3-1 on the year, making 47 saves across a pair of victories over Northeastern and New Hampshire.
Cole Hutson, BU (Fr., D; North Barrington, Ill.) Matched his career high with four points (2g, 2a) in the Terriers’ 7-1 win over Harvard in the Beanpot semifinals. He also had the primary helper on the Terriers’ lone goal at Merrimack on Friday.
Mikhail Yegorov, BU (Fr., G; St. Petersburg, Russia) Did not allow a 5-on-5 goal in a two-game week, recording a career-best 26 saves in a 7-1 win over Harvard in the Beanpot semifinals and matching that total in a 2-1 overtime defeat at Merrimack on Friday. Yegorov has now allowed just one 5-on-5 goal in his first four NCAA starts.
Hudson Schandor, UConn (Gr., F; North Vancouver, B.C.) Finished a two-game split weekend with six total points (2g, 4a). Hudson assisted on two goals in Friday night’s 5-4 setback to UMass but bounced back to score two goals, including the game winner in overtime, and set up another two tallies in a 5-4 win over #10 UMass Lowell.
Joey Muldowney, UConn (So., F; Lake View, N.Y.) Potted three goals in a split weekend with UMass and UMass Lowell, pushing his goal and point streak to three games (4g, 2a).
Taylor Makar, Maine (Sr., F; Calgary, Alta.) Scored three goals in Maine’s 1-0-1 week at No. 7 Providence. He scored twice in Friday’s 3-3 tie, including a short-handed goal, and then scored the lone goal of the game on Saturday night in a 1-0 overtime win. He recorded five shots on goal and a plus-3 rating.
Albin Boija, Maine (So., G; Sundsval, Sweden) Went 1-0-1 while leading the league in goals against average (1.42) and save percentage (.950) in two games at No. 7 Providence. He had 28 saves in Saturday’s 1-0 win for his fourth shutout of the season and made a league-high 57 saves on the weekend.
Frank Djurasevic, Maine (So., D; New Rochelle, N.Y.) Scored a goal, blocked three shots, fired three shots on goal and had a plus-three rating in Maine’s 1-0-1 week at No. 7 Providence.
Dillan Bentley, UML (Jr., F; Peoria, lll.) Picked up an assist against Vermont before collecting a hat trick at UConn on Saturday and finishing the weekend with four points.
Chris Delaney, UML (Fr., F; Hopkinton, Mass.) Recorded a goal and an assist Friday against Vermont.

Timofei Spitserov, UVM (Sr., F; St. Petersburg, Russia) Scored the game-winning goal and added an empty net insurance marker to earn a ranked road win over No. 10 UMass Lowell.
