HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES
No. 10 Providence swept No. 8 Colorado College on home ice, led by a four-point weekend from rookie forward John Mustard. He set up the game-winning goal on Friday and followed up with a three-point outing the next night in a 5-1 triumph. Philip Svedeback stopped 51-of-55 shots he faced.
Massachusetts shut out No. 11 Boston University, 4-0, for the first time in program history on Saturday night. He stopped all 32 shots he faced for the perfect game, while Lucas Mercuri assisted on each of the first three goals, a new career high.
New Hampshire earned 5-3 win at Northeastern on Friday Night Hockey East on NESN thanks in part to the first career two-goal game from Marty Lavins, including the game-winning goal.
No. 14 UMass Lowell hosted No. 3 Boston College Friday night, skating to a 3-3 tie thanks in part to two goals from rookie Mirko Buttazoni and 32 saves from Beni Halasz. The Eagles took a 2-1 victory over UConn on Wednesday, using a golden goal from James Hagens in overtime. He followed that up with the primary assist on the game-tying goal on Friday.
Maine swept Stonehill at Alfond Arena, using offense from Josh Nadeau, who had two goals and two assists. He scored two power-play goals, assisted on the game-winning goal on Friday, six shots on goal and one blocked shot to go with a plus-one rating.
Northeastern’s Cam Lund led all Hockey East skaters in scoring over the
weekend, recording a league-high five points from two goals and three
assists, including the game-winning against Brown.

John Mustard - Providence
John Mustard (Fr., F; Ordell, N.J.) had a four-point weekend in a sweep over
No. 8 Colorado College, helping the Friars earn a series sweep over the Tigers. He posted the primary assist on the game-winning goal on Friday night
and recorded three points on one goal and two assists in the Friars’ 5-1 win
on Saturday night, totaling a plus-five overall last weekend. Mustard currently
holds a five-game point streak (3-5-8).
PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Mirko Buttazzoni - UMass Lowell
Mirko Buttazzoni (Fr., F; Langley, B.C.) scored two goals to help the River
Hawks to a 3-3 tie and eventual shootout win against No. 4 Boston College.
His first was the to give UMass Lowell the 1-0 lead, while his second period
goal gave them a 3-1 edge.
HOCKEY EAST DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Vinny Borgesi - Northeastern
Vinny Borgesi (Jr., D; Philadelphia, Pa.) tied for the league high among all defensemen with four points over the weekend, recording one goal and three assists, including an assist on the game winner against Brown. He finished with six shots, had a
plus-one rating, added one block and went 5-for-5 on face-offs as a defensemen.
Borgesi now has five points in three games and ranks among the top-20 in the country with 11 assists and 13 points. He leads the entire NCAA, since the beginning of
the year, in time on ice, averaging 28:33 minutes a game.
STOP IT GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Michael Hrabal - Massachusetts
Michael Hrabal (So., G; Prague, Czechia) stopped all 32 shots he faced in
a 4-0 shutout at No. 11 Boston University on Saturday, the first-ever shutout
of the Terriers in program history and Hrabal’s third career shutout. Improved
to 8-5-2 on the season with the win and was named the game’s No. 1 star.
HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS
James Hagens, BC (Fr., F; Hauppauge, N.Y.) Scored the game-winning goal in overtime on Wednesday to give BC a 2-1 victory over UConn. He followed that up with the primary assist on the game-tying goal on Friday against No. 14 UMass Lowell.
Teddy Stiga, BC (Fr., F; Sudbury, Mass.) Netted the opening goal and then provided the primary assist on the game-winning goal in overtime in Wednesday’s 2-1 win over UConn.
Jacob Fowler, BC (So., G; Melbourne, Fla.) Posted a 1-0-1 record this past week. He made 23 saves on 24 shots in the overtime victory against UConn and stopped a season-high 32 shots on Friday against the River Hawks.
Josh Nadeau, Maine (So., F; St-François-de-Madawaska, N.B.) Had two goals and two assists in helping Maine to a 2-0-0 weekend over Stonehill. He scored two power-play goals had one goal and two assists on Friday and added a goal on Saturday. He assisted on the game-winning goal on Friday and had six shots on goal and one blocked shot and a plus-one rating.
Patriks Berzins, Maine (Fr., G; Sabile, Latvia) Made 14 saves in his first career start for his first career win in a 4-2 victory on Sunday.
Frank Djurasevic, Maine (So., F; New Rochelle, N.Y.) Had one goal and one assist on the weekend while recording five shots on goal and a plus-two rating and had two blocked shots.
Albin Boija, Maine (So., G; Sundsvall, Sweden) Had 14 saves in earning his 11th win of the season on Friday night over Stonehill.
Lucas Mercuri, UMass (Sr., F; Montreal, Que.) Assisted on each of the first three goals of UMass’ 4-0 shutout at No. 11 Boston University on Saturday, setting a new career single-game high for assists. He was named the game’s No. 3 star.
Francesco Dell'Elce, UMass (Fr., D; King City, Ont.) Had two assists on the power play and blocked one shot in a 4-0 shutout at No. 11 Boston University on Saturday for second straight multi-point game and third multi-point game of the season.
Beni Halasz, UML (Jr., G; Budapest, Hungary) Made 32 saves to help the team to a 3-3 tie with No. 4 Boston College and made two crucial saves in the shootout to lift the River Hawks to the shootout win and the extra point in the Hockey East standings.
Marty Lavins, UNH (So., F; Riga, Lativa) Scored a career high two goals at Northeastern on Friday in the 5-3 win. He gave the Wildcats a 3-1 lead in the second period and then netted his first collegiate game-winning goal with UNH’s fourth goal of the season.
Cam Lund, NU (Jr., F; Bridgewater, Mass.) Led all Hockey East skaters in scoring over the weekend, recording a league-high five points from two goals and three assists, including the game-winning against Brown. He finished the weekend with 11 shots, had a plus-four rating, went 7/14 on face-offs as a winger and added one block. Lund now has eight points in four consecutive games and has tallied a goal in three straight games. He holds the team-high eight goals and 17 points, while ranking in second in Hockey East with 11 points
Taige Harding, PC (Sr., D; St. Albert, Alta.) Registered a career-high four assists in Providence’s 5-1 win over No. 8 Colorado College on Saturday. He finished the weekend with a plus-five rating to help the Friars sweep the Tigers.
Philip Svedeback, PC (Jr., G; Vaxjo, Sweden) Stopped 51-of-55 shots he faced over the weekend to help lead Providence to a two-game sweep over No. 8 Colorado College. He posted a 2.00 GAA and .927 save percentage over the weekend.
