Hockey East Boasts Six Teams in Top 11 of Pairwise Ranking Entering December

HOCKEY EAST HEADLINES

Boston College returned ot the top ranking in both polls following a weekend road sweep of No. 18 Notre Dame and No. 20 Harvard. Freshman Ryan Leonard scored four goals while Jacob Fowler allowed just one goal in each start for the Eagles.

Merrimack claimed the Turkey Leg Classic title with a sweep of Bentley and Army, the Warriors’ first in-season tournament title since 2004. Alex Jefferies racked up four points on one goal and three assissts and now has multiple points in four of his eight games played this season.

Northeastern’s offense erupted for nine goals in a Sunday with at RPI, going 1-0-1 on the weekend. Jack Williams racked up six points (4g, 2a) across the two wins while Jackson Dorrington posted an NCAA-best plus-seven on-ice rating.

Massachusetts earned a 6-5 road win at Harvard on Friday, behind a two-point game from Kenny Connors who set up the game-tying goal in the third period on the power play and followed up with the game-winner.

Boston University earned a come-from-behind, 3-2, victory over No. 3 Quinnipiac on Wednesday night, led by Ryan Greene, who tallied three points. After assisting on Jeremy Wilmer’s goal that began the third-period rally, Greene scored twice in a span of 2:43, including the game-winner with 1:51 to play, to lift BU to victory.

Providence split a weekend series at Arizona State, claiming a 2-1 victory on Saturday after falling, 4-3, in overtime the night prior. Graham Gamache tallied a goal Friday night and assisted on Riley Duran’s game-winning goal on Sunday against the Sun Devils. He finished the weekend with 10 shots on goal over two games.

Ryan Leonard (Fr., F; Amherst, Mass.) scored four goals over a two-win weekend for Boston College, in- cluding a pair of two-goal performances in road wins at No. 18 Notre Dame and No. 20 Harvard. He finished the stretch with seven shots on goal and a plus-two rating while extending his point streak to eight games, during which he has scored eight times and posted 11 points.

Jack Williams (So., F; Biddeford, Maine) recorded four goals in an undefeated weekend against RPI and added two assists to complete a six-point weekend. He posted a career high four-point game (2g, 2a) in Saturday night’s 9-2 win and finished with a plus-four rating while going 16-of-24 on face-offs. He recorded two blocks and nine shots on goal.

Ryan Conmy - New Hampshire

Ryan Conmy (Fr., F; Alexandria, Va.) posted three goals and one assist for four points as No. 10 UNH went 1-1-0 at No. 20 RIT. He scored two goals on Friday in a 5-4 loss as he tied the game at 2-2 in the second period and then cut the RIT lead to 5-3 in the third period with a powe-play goal. On Saturday in the 4-3 overtime win he tallied one goal and one assist. Conmy scored with just 5.3 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 3-3 and force overtime, while he sent Cy LeClerc on a breakaway for the overtime game-winning goal with just 6.2 seconds remaining. Conmy leads the team with eight assists and is tied for first with 14 points.

Jackson Dorrington - Northeastern

Jackson Dorrington (So., D; North Reading, Mass.) posted a career high three-point game en route to a 9-2 win over RPI on Saturday, picking up one goal and two assists. He finished with an NCAA-best plus-seven rating in a 1-0-1 weekend and blocked three shots.

Jacob Fowler - Boston College

Jacob Fowler (Fr., G; Melbourne, Fla.) stopped 52 of the 54 shots he faced for a .963 save percentage while earning a pair of wins on the road against No. 18 Notre Dame and No. 20 Harvard. He was less than two minutes away from his second straight shutout against the Fighting Irish and posted his 10th and 11th wins of the season to improve to 11-2-1.


HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS

Cutter Gauthier, BC (So., F; Scottsdale, Ariz.) Had a goal and two assists in a pair of road wins over No. 18 Notre Dame and No. 20 Harvard. He posted two assists on Black Friday in South Bend, then scored his NCAA-leading fifth game-winning goal against the Crimson on Sunday. Closed the weekend with 12 shots on goal and a plus-three rating.

Ryan Greene, BU (So., F; Paradise, N.L.) Tallied three points in the Terriers’ comeback win over No. 3 Quinnipiac on Wednesday. After assisting on Jeremy Wilmer’s goal that began the third-period rally, Greene scored twice in a span of 2:43, including the game-winner with 1:51 to play, to lift BU to a 3-2 victory.

Doug Grimes, BU (Fr., F; Brookline, Mass.) Scored his first collegiate goal on Saturday at Red Hot Hockey at Madison Square Garden against No. 16/17 Cornell.

Lane Hutson, BU (So., D; North Barrington, Ill.) Tallied two assists in the Terriers’ 3-2 win over No. 3 Quinnipiac. He currently leads all Hockey East defensemen in goals (8) and points (16).

Mathieu Caron, BU (Jr., G; Abbotsford, B.C.) In the Terriers’ 3-2 win over No. 3 Quinnipiac on Wednesday, made 27 saves against the Bobcats. He followed that with 17 saves in a 2-1 defeat to No. 16/17 Cornell on Saturday.

Chase Bradley, UConn (Jr., F; St. Louis, Mo.) Scored two goals on Saturday to help UConn take down Dartmouth by a final of 6-1. This is Bradley’s second straight week with two goals in a game and has three multi-point games in his last six outings.

Ethan Haider, UConn (Sr., G; St. Louis Park, Minn.) Saved 22 total shots while allowing only one goal to help UConn take down Dartmouth, 6-1.

Kenny Connors, UMass (So., F; Glen Mills, Pa.) Had a two-point game in UMass’ 6-5 win at No. 20 Harvard, assisting the game-tying goal in the third period on the power play and following that up with the game-winner as the Minutemen came from behind for their ninth win of the seasos. He aslso won 13 of 21 (61.9%) faceoffs.

Dillan Bentley, UML (So., F; Peoria, Ill.) Netted a goal in each game for UMass Lowell against Bentley and Army.

Jak Vaarwerk, UML (Fr., F; Clarence, N.Y.) In two games this week, Vaarwerk tallied two assists, getting one against Bentley and one against Army. He also won 9 of 15 faceoffs taken.

Alex Jefferies, MC (Sr., F; Lunenberg, Mass.) Had a five point weekend, scoring once and notching four assists against Army and Bentley to help Merrimack to the Turkey Leg Classic title.

Ty Daneault, MC (Fr., F; Red Deer, Alta.) Scored three goals to help Merrimack to a sweep of the Turkey Leg Classic against Bentley and Army West Point.

Zach Bookman, MC (So., D; Syracuse, N.Y.) Dished out three assists to help lead the Warriors’ offense to a 2-0-0 weekend in the Turkey Leg Classic over Bentley and Army.

Hugo Ollas, MC (Jr., G; Linkoping, Sweden) Made 31 saves to help Merrimack past Bentley to win the Turkey Leg Classic.

Cy LeClerc, UNH (So., F; Brentwood, N.H.) Totaled two goals and two assists for four points as No. 10 UNH went 1-1-0 at No. 20 RIT. He posted two assists on Friday in a 5-4 loss. In Saturday’s 4-3 overtime win, he scored two goals. LeClerc tied the game at 2-2 in the first period and then scored the game winner with just 6.2 seconds left in overtime. He leads the team with seven goals and is tied for first with 14 points.

Luke Reid, UNH (Sr., D; Warman, Sask.) Posted three assists in a weekend split at No. 20 RIT.

Dylan Hryckowian, NU (Fr., F; Île Bizard, Que.) Registered a three-point weekend with three assists in two games to help Northeastern go 1-0-1 against RPI. He finished with a plus-three rating.

Cameron Whitehead, NU (Fr., G; Orleans, Ont.) Finished a 1-0-1 weekened with 49 saves and stopped all four RPI shootout attempts following Friday’s 3-3 draw. He posted a .907 save percentage in the two-game series.

Graham Gamache, PC (Fr., F; Edmonton, Alta.) Tallied a goal Friday night at Arizona State and assisted on Riley Duran’s game-winning goal on Sunday against the Sun Devils. He finished the weekend with 10 shots on goal over two games.

Austen May, PC (So., D; Woodhaven, Mich.) Registered a goal and an assist on Friday night at Arizona State, totaled nine shots on goal and finished with a plus-three rating over a split series against the Sun Devils this weekend.
