Leonard, Jönsson Earn HCA National Awards For November
BC's Ryan Leonard Named National Men's Player of the Month; NU's Lisa Jönsson Tabbed As Women's Co-Goaltender of the Month

Two forwards who combined for 35 points in November, Ryan Leonard of Boston College and Issy Wunder of Princeton, lead the way in the Hockey Commissioners Association monthly honors for November. Also honored: a deep list of outstanding goaltending performances by men and women with eye-popping stats.


Men’s Player of the Month: Ryan Leonard, SO F, Boston College (Amherst, MA)

While playing the hardest schedule in the NCAA, Ryan Leonard led the country in goals (8), game-winning goals (4), and shots on net (52), while powering the Eagles to a 7-2-0 record. His 13 points were second in the nation and he was third with a plus-nine rating. No player in Hockey East had more goals, points, or game-winning goals.

Women’s Player of the Month: Issy Wunder, JR F, Princeton (Toronto, ON)

Wunder racked up a phenomenal 12-10-22 line in nine games (2.44 PPG) for the Tigers. Keyed a 4-3 win over #5 Colgate with 1-1-2 and finished the month with a 5-goal effort at Stonehill.

Men’s Rookie of the Month: Michael Hage, FR F, Michigan (Mississauga, ON)

Led all rookies in the nation with 1.43 PPG as the Wolverines went 7-1, playing against ranked squads, including Boston University and Western Michigan. Had the GWG v. WMU.

Women’s Rookie of the Month: Mackenzie Alexander, FR F, Princeton (Etobicoke, ON)

Went 5-17-22 in nine games, going 3-5-8 in four games against Top 15 opponents. Had six assists in final game at Stonehill.

Men’s Co-Goaltender of the Month: Kaidan Mbereko, JR G, Colorado College (Aspen, CO)

Averaged 28 saves per game in a 5-2-1 month for #8 CC. Had a .941 save percentage and 1.71 GAA.


Men’s Co-Goaltender of the Month: Alex Tracy, JR G, Minnesota State (Chicago, IL)

Great numbers of 1.23 and .955 while averaging 26.5 saves per game. Allowed 0 or 1 goal in six of eight games. Had 43 saves in only loss in the month (1-0 at Bemidji State).

Women’s Co-Goaltender of the Month: Lisa Jönsson, FR G, Northeastern (Stockholm, Sweden)

Went 4-1 with numbers of .980 and 0.60, with three games against ranked opponents. Currently leads the nation with .964 and 1.01 on the year.


Women’s Co-Goaltender of the Month: Ava McNaughton, SO G, Wisconsin (Seven Fields, PA)

Her line: 6-1, 1.20, .956. Includes two shutouts against #8 St. Cloud and a 31-save, 4-2 win at #2 Ohio State.
