STORRS, Conn.- A two-goal effort from senior Skylar Irving delivered the fifth-seeded Northeastern women's hockey team a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over top-seeded No. 11/12 Connecticut on Wednesday night at Toscano Family Ice Forum in the Hockey East Semifinals. With the victory, the Huskies advance to their ninth-straight Hockey East Championship game on Saturday, March 8 at 12 p.m against second-seeded No. 13 Boston University.
- Connecticut jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a power-play tally at the 11:42 mark of the second period.
- UConn held its 1-0 advantage until Skylar Irving scored a goal, one-on-five at the 6:22 mark of the third period to tie the game. Irving's tally was assisted by junior Holly Abela and freshman Tuva Kandell.
- Irving then put the Huskies ahead 2-1 with her second goal at the 12:25 mark of the final frame. Her second goal had helpers from freshmen Morgan Jackson and Éloïse Caron.
- Junior Lily Brazis brought the final score to 3-1 with her fifth goal of the season with an assist from Jackson.
- Freshman netminder Lisa Jönsson finished with 36 saves to earn her second Hockey East Tournament victory.
- Irving and Jackson finished with multi-point efforts for NU.
Northeastern will next look to capture a seventh Hockey East title on Saturday, March 8 at 12 p.m. in Toscano Family Ice Forum against the Terriers. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNEWS.
