CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - A three goal second period helped the Boston College women's hockey team top Maine, 4-3, in the Hockey East Tournament quarterfinal round on Saturday Night at Kelley Rink.
With the win, the third-seeded Eagles will face Boston University on Wednesday, March 5 during the semifinals.
The Black Bears took a 1-0 lead early in the first period. Less than two minutes later, the Eagles tied the game. Alanna Delvin scored the equalizer after rebounding Lauren Glaser's shot. The two sides were tied heading into the first intermission.
Maine got off to a fast start in the second frame, scoring 52 seconds into it. Julia Pellerin was able to tie the game back at 2-2 four minutes into the period. BC had their first lead of the night when Keri Cloughery scored a power play goal.
Eight minutes into the period, Maine scored its third goal of the game. Twelve seconds later, BC regained the lead on a goal by Julia Pellerin.
Neither side scored in the final frame, giving BC the 4-3 victory over Maine.
