STORRS, Conn. - The 12th ranked, and top seed UConn women's hockey team defeated the No. 10 seed Merrimack Warriors, 4-0 on Saturday night at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. UConn advances to the Hockey East semifinal for the fifth time in the last six seasons.

Senior goaltender Tia Chan made her 23rd start this season as UConn's netminder. Chan was sensational, recording her fifth shutout of the season, making 32 saves in the win.

UConn got off to a fast start, as they opened the scoring just five minutes into the first period. Graduate student defender Sophie Robinson scored her third goal of the season, giving the Huskies an early 1-0 lead.

UConn took the one goal lead into the first intermission. The Huskies led in shots, 10-9 in the first period.

The Huskies remained in front through the second period. UConn continued to apply pressure in their offensive zone, as shots favored the Huskies, 16-10 in the second frame.

UConn surged in the third period, scoring three goals to pull away from the Warriors. Senior captain, Jada Habisch got the Huskies rolling midway through the period, scoring her ninth goal in her last nine games, doubling the UConn lead, 2-0.

A few minutes later, Habisch struck again, scoring her team leading 16th goal of the season to put the game out of reach for Merrimack at 3-0.

Just two minutes later, sophomore forward Livvy Dewar got in on the goal party, giving the Huskies a 4-0 lead. Dewar now has three goals of the season.
