With the score tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation, and neither team finding the winner during overtime, the game went to a shootout. The shootout score was 2-2 after the initial three rounds, before Gustafsson provided the winner in the fifth round.

The Eagles were tested early by the UNH offense, including a one-on-one chance from Liam Devlin that Fowler stopped with a full extension toe save.

The Wildcats took the lead midway through the second period when a pass from Kristaps Skrastins took a deflection off a BC skater and went into the net.

Boston College nabbed the equalizer early in the third period with a power play goal. Leonard passed the puck to Powell from left to right across the blue line, before Powell found Perreault down near the net.
