ORONO, Maine - Behind a hat trick from Taylor Makar, the #5 University of Maine men's ice hockey team earned a 4-1 win over the University of Vermont on Friday night at Alfond Arena.

Makar scored his first of the night in the final minute of the first period, converting on the power play. Midway through the second, again on the power play, Makar deflected a Frank Djurasevic shot for the 2-0 lead.

Vermont made it a one-goal game midway through the third period with a power-play tally but Makar answered two minutes later, finishing a feed from Brandon Chabrier on a rush. Grayson Arnott then finished the scoring 90 seconds later for the 4-1 final.
