Vermont opened the scoring midway through the frame on the power play. Isak Walther passed it across the front of the net for Joel Maatta to tap in.

The Eagles tied it up just minutes later when Skahan fired home a shot from the slot. Letourneau won the faceoff in the offensive zone, and Skahan had the opening to rip a shot through traffic into the top right corner of the net.

The Catamounts regained their lead with less than a minute remaining in the first period with their second power play goal, this time through Sebastian Törnqvist.

Boston College ripped off three unanswered goals in the second period, including two on the power play, to go ahead by a score of 4-2. Powell got things going when he scored on a shot from the slot to tie the game at 2-2.

After Vermont was handed a five-minute major, the Eagles took advantage with two goals on the ensuing power play. Leonard gave BC its first lead of the night with a shot from the slot through the Catamount defense and past the goaltender. Less than 90 seconds later, J. Hagens added to the lead with a goal coming from the right faceoff circle during a 5v3 advantage.

The Catamounts cut into the BC lead shortly before the end of the second period, but the Eagles regained its two-goal advantage early in the third with M. Hagens scoring his first collegiate on a one-timer from the left faceoff circle.

Gasseau scored the insurance goal with a short-handed, empty net goal after forcing a turnover to make it a 6-3 game.
