WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team hosted Vermont for the 25th Anniversary game on Saturday, Feb. 15. An early goal for the Crusaders and strong defense held off the Catamounts for the 1-0 Holy Cross victory.
BETWEEN THE PIPES:
Holy Cross: Abby Hornung (W, 6-13-2), 23 saves
Vermont: Sydney Correa (L, 2-4-0), 26 saves
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Just three minutes into the first period, sophomore forward Reghan Chadwick maneuvered the puck up and into the back of the net. Junior forward Charlotte Sonntag and senior defender Carmen Elliott earned assists on the play.
- Neither team scored in the second period. Hornung made 12 saves to Correa's 10 in the period.
- The Crusaders held off the Catamounts in the final period to take the 1-0 victory.
- Holy Cross led Vermont 28-23 in shots on goal and 28-22 in face-offs to conclude the game.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
- Hornung earned her second career shutout.
- Chadwick netted her fourth goal of the season.
