Box Score | Highlights

BOSTON - Freshman Mikhail Yegorov stopped all 30 shots he faced for his first collegiate shutout as the No. 9 Boston University men's ice hockey team defeated No. 9 Providence, 3-0, on Saturday night at Agganis Arena.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, sophomore Jack Harvey got BU (17-11-1, 11-7-1 HE) on the board at the 13:15 mark before freshman Sascha Boumedienne's first collegiate goal made it 2-0 less than two minutes later. Harvey and Boumedienne then assisted on junior Quinn Hutson's 50th career goal, which was also his 100th career point, to put the game out of reach.

In addition to stopping every puck that came his way, Yegorov also had the secondary assist on Boumedienne's strike for his first collegiate point. Freshmen Brandon Svoboda and Cole Hutson assisted on Harvey's winner while senior Matt Copponi also collected an assist.

Yegorov was especially good in the third period, as Providence (17-8-5, 7-7-5 HE) peppered him with 16 shots in the final frame. This was Yegorov's second outing with 30 or more saves, as he stopped 43 of the 44 shots he faced to lead BU to its 32nd Beanpot title on Monday.

The Terriers blocked 20 shots on Saturday, with sophomore Gavin McCarthy, graduate student Brehdan Engum and sophomore Aiden Celebrini recording four blocks apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Harvey put BU ahead for good when he finished off a pass from Svoboda during a 2-on-1.

- Boumedienne doubled the Terriers' lead at the 15:12 mark of the second. Yegorov pushed the puck ahead to Copponi, who carried it up the right wing to create a 3-on-2. Boumedienne trailed the play and received the puck from Copponi before skating to the slot and ripping the puck past Philip Svedebäck (20 saves).

- Hutson made it 3-0 with 7:54 remaining in regulation. Boumedienne began the sequence with a great open-ice hit in the neutral zone to win the puck for Harvey, who then got it to Hutson at the Providence blue line. Hutson snaked through the Friar defense before eventually getting between the circles and sending the puck into the back of the net.

- Yegorov then stood tall after Providence pulled Svedebäck for an extra attacker, making six saves across the last three minutes to preserve his shutout.
