WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team hosted Maine for Senior Day and Pink The Rink on Saturday, Feb. 1. Senior defender Carmen Elliott hit the one-timer game-winner in overtime to seal the 1-0 victory over the Black Bears
BETWEEN THE PIPES:
- Holy Cross: Abby Hornung (W, 5-12-2), 27 saves
- Maine: Kiia Lahtinen (L, 3-15-0), 23 saves
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Neither team scored in the first period. Lahtinen made seven saves to Hornung's two.
- No one scored in the second period. Hornung picked up 10 saves while the team combined nine blocked shots in the period.
- Neither team scored in the third period to force the game into overtime.
- At 2:56 in overtime, Elliott fired a one-time fed in by sophomore forward Lulu Rourke and assistant captain Alexia Moreau to take home the 1-0 OT victory.
- Maine led Holy Cross 27-24 in shots on goal while Holy Cross has the 29-20 advantage in face-offs to conclude the game.
