NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - Senior Skylar Irving potted two points as the No. 15/14 Northeastern women's hockey team earned the 4-1 victory and series sweep over the Merrimack College Warriors on Saturday night.
- Senior Skylar Irving opened the scoring with her 10th tally of the season just over five minutes into the game. Irving's tally came with assists from juniors Kristina Allard and Lily Shannon.
- Merrimack tied the game at 1-1 before the end of the first period.
- The power-play continued to click with senior Tory Mariano putting the Huskies up 2-1 on the player advantage. Mariano's goal was assisted by graduate student Jaden Bogden and Irving. Mariano is riding a four-game point streak where she has posted seven points.
- Northeastern tacked on two more goals in the third period to bring the final score to 4-1 in the Huskies favor. Junior Holly Abela scored in her 100th career game with the Huskies. Abela's goal was assisted by her linemates, graduate student Katie Davis and sophomore Ellie Mabardy.
- Freshman Éloïse Caron closed out the scoring, with assists from sophomore Allie Lalonde and freshman Tuva Kandell.
- Freshman netminder Lisa Jönsson posted 26 saves in her 13th victory of the season.
The Huskies will next host Vermont on Friday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. in Matthews Arena.
