BOSTON, Mass. - Freshman netminder Lisa Jönsson pitched a 25-save shutout and senior Tory Mariano added on three assists to guide the No. 15/14 Northeastern women's hockey team to a 4-0 shutout victory over Merrimack on Friday night at Matthews Arena.
Mariano, junior Lily Shannon and sophomore Allie Lalonde all finished with multi-point efforts for the Huskies.
- Lalonde opened the scoring with a power-play goal at the 18:13 mark of the first period. Her second goal of the season was assisted by Mariano and Shannon.
- The Huskies added another goal in the second frame to take a 2-0 lead thanks to freshman Éloïse Caron. Caron's tally had helpers from Lalonde and freshman Morgan Jackson.
- Shannon made it a goal in every period for the Huskies, with her team-leading 10th goal of the season. She had assists from Mariano and junior Jules Constantinople. Junior Holly Abela closed out the scoring with a shorthanded goal to bring the final score to 4-0. Abela's shorthanded goal was assisted by graduate student Lily Yovetich and Mariano.
- Jönsson posted her seventh shutout of the season against Merrimack, tied for the best mark in the NCAA. It is her second-straight shutout for the Huskies and brings her to 12-3-0 on the season.
