BOSTON, Mass. - The Providence College women's hockey team defeated No. 15/15 Northeastern, 3-2, on Saturday, Jan. 18 at Matthews Arena in Boston, Mass. The Friars improve to 13-8-3 on the season and 9-6-2 in Hockey East play, while Northeastern dropped to 14-8-1 overall (10-6-1 Hockey East). Lily Hendrikson (Edina, Minn.) recorded two assists for the Friars.

GAME FLOW & NOTES

- Kiara Kraft (Churchville, N.Y.) broke the deadlock in the first period with her sixth goal of the season and second goal of the weekend. Ashley Clark (North Weymouth, Mass.) and Lily Hendrikson (Edina, Minn.) were both credited with the assists.

- Northeastern tied the game 28 seconds into the second period on the power-play from Allie Lalonde. Tuva Kandell and Tory Mariano received the assists.

- With 6:05 remaining Lily Martinson (Allen, Texas) regained the lead for Providence to make it 2-1. Dylan Berman (Deephaven, Minn.) recorded the lone assist. The goal was Martinson's second of the weekend and sixth of the season.

- With under 90 seconds to go in the period, Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) grabbed her second goal and third point on the weekend to give the Friars a two-goal lead at 3-1. Hendrikson picked up her second assist of the afternoon on the goal.

- Northeastern would cut the Friars lead to 3-2 with a goal by Jules Constantinople at 4:20 of the third period. Lily Brazis and Ella Blackmore registered the assists.

- The Friars held off a six-on-five from the Huskies for the last 2:25 of the third period to claim the victory.

- Hope Walinski recorded 19 saves for the Friars in the win.

- With the win, the Friars extended their winning streak to six games. The last six-game winning streak for the Friars was during the 2022-23 season.

- After today's result, Providence is now 9-2-2 when scoring first, 11-1-0 when scoring three goals or more and 9-1-1 when leading after two periods.

- Providence improves to 4-3-0 against ranked opponents this season after the win. The last time the Friars had more than three ranked wins in a season was the 2009-2010 season when Providence had seven ranked wins.

- The last time the Friars had a season sweep over the Huskies was their last three-game winning streak in the series coming in the 2017-2018 season.
