North Andover, MA.-- The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team snuck by the UMass Minutemen as they won 3-2 on Friday night in front of a sold out Lawler Arena on Friday night.
Merrimack (9-11-1, 5-6-1): 3, UMass (10-10-2, 3-7-1): 2

In the first period, Nils Wallstrom stood tall for the Warriors, making 12 saves in a high event opening 20 minutes.
In the second, Merrimack found their breakthrough as the reigning Hockey East rookie of the week Nick Pierre would slide the puck in the net from a tight angle to put the Warriors ahead. UMass however would tie the game on a offensive zone takeaway to send the game into the third deadlocked at one apiece.
In the third period, Tyler Young would start the period with a bang as he put Merrimack ahead for good only two minutes in. The Warriors would add an insurance marker with a late powerplay goal as Ty Daneault chipped in the rebound from the initial shot from Michael Emerson. UMass would cut the lead back to one in the final minute, but the Warriors would dig in in the final 48 seconds to preserve the victory.

- Nick Pierre made it two goals in two games with his tally this evening.
- Ty Daneault's goal extended his point streak to six.
- Tyler Young scored his fourth goal of the season.
- Ethan Bono, Ivan Zivlak & Michael Emerson all had an assist each.
- Nils Wallstrom made 31 saves in the win, his third in a row.
