PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College women's hockey team defeated No. 15/15 Northeastern, 5-1, on Friday, Jan. 17 at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. The Friars improve to 12-8-3 on the season and 8-6-2 in Hockey East play, while Northeastern dropped to 14-7-1 overall (10-5-1 Hockey East). Three Friars recorded multi-point games in the win.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Mégane Quirion (Saint-Eustache, Quebec) opened the scoring for the Friars after a Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) wrister from the blue line fell to Quirion. Hannah Clarke (Richmond Hill, Ontario) picked up the secondary assist. Quirion has recorded a at least one point in each of the Friars' last five games.
-One minute later, Kiara Kraft (Churchville, N.Y.) found the back of the net on a backhand shot with a feed from Jessie Pellerin (Bowmanville, Ontario) to make it 2-0 Providence. It marked Kraft's fifth goal of the season.
-The Friars made it 3-0 after Hannah Johnson (Readfield, Maine) jammed home a rebound in the crease. Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) and Clarke were awarded the assist. Kirchmair became the first Friar to reach double digits in both goals and assists this season (10-10-20). Clarke's assist marked the first multi-point game of her career.
-The two teams skated scoreless through the second period with the Huskies outshooting the Friars 14-10.
-Seconds after a Friar power-play expired, Kirchmair scored to give Providence a 4-0 lead. Johnson and Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) were credited with assists. Kirchmair's second point of the night marked her fifth multi-point game of the season and 14th of her career. Johnson's second assist was her fourth multi-point game of the season and ninth of her career.
-Late in the third period, Knapp received a five-minute major and game misconduct. During the ensuing power-play, Taze Thompson scored to make it 4-1 with assists from Lily Brazis and Jaden Bogden. The goal ended the Friars streak of 22-consecutive penalty kills.
-Later in the five-minute power-play, Lily Martinson (Allen, Texas) scored from the Friars' defensive zone into an empty net to secure the 5-1 victory. The goal was unassisted.
- Hope Walinski recorded 29 saves for the Friars in the win.
-The win improved the Friars win streak to five games. Providence has not had a five-game winning streak since the 2022-23 season when the Friars eclipsed six-straight wins.
-This is the first time the Friars have won back-to-back games against Northeastern since 2019-2020 season. The last time the Friars won back-to-back home games against Northeastern was the 2017-2018 season.
-The win improves the Friars to 3-3-0 against ranked opponents this season. Providence has not had three wins against ranked opponents since 2022-23.
-The Friars are now 6-0-0 when Johnson records an assist.
