STORRS, Connecticut - The University of Maine skated to a 2-2 tie with the number 15-ranked UConn Huskies before picking up the extra point in the shootout on Friday at Toscano Family Ice Arena. Goaltender Julia Bachetti backstopped the Black Bears with 30 saves, while Mira Seregély, Mikayla Boarder and Sam Morrison found the back of the net.
Though UConn took the lead late in the first period, Maine responded by tying up the game just two minutes into the second period. Mira Seregély scored her first goal of the season on a play from Gracie Hanson and Kendall Sundby. Later in the second period, MIkayla Boarder scored a powerplay goal to give Maine the lead. Ava Stevenson and Sam Morrison earned assists.
UConn was able to tie up the game in the third period on a powerplay opportunity. After a scoreless overtime period, Sam Morrison netted the shootout-winner in the seventh round of a scoreless shootout. The extra point earned from the shootout-win accounts for Maine's fourth win in the last five games.

SOG were 32-20 in favor of UConn.
Bachetti made 30 saves, including seven more in the shootout.
Maine was 1-for-2 on the powerplay and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
