North Andover, MA.-- The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team took their chances when given, and were rewarded with a 2-1 win over the #18/17 Dartmouth Big Green on Sunday afternoon in their return to Lawler Arena.

Merrimack (7-10-1, 3-5-1): 2, Dartmouth (7-5-2, 4-2-1): 1

The Warriors started quick as Ty Daneault snapped home the first goal on the opening shot of the game just 10 seconds in. That would be only shot on goal for either side in the opening 10 minutes. Both teams would kill a penalty and Nils Wallstrom made all four saves that were asked of him to take the one goal lead into the room after 20.

In the second period, the slow pace would continue but despite the low shot totals, the Warriors found their second goal of the game as Antonio Venuto tallied for the second straight game to double the Warriors lead with one period to go.

In the third, the Big Green found a lifeline with a goal midway through the period but the Warriors goaltender, Nils Wallstrom would make 10 saves including a few on a late penalty kill to hold off the late charge to capture the weekend sweep of games.
