ORONO, Maine - The #7 University of Maine men's hockey team defeated #6 Denver, 2-1, on Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd at Alfond Arena.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal with 4:27 to go in the first. The Black Bears, though, responded before the intermission as Harrison Scott stuffed home his 13th goal of the season with two seconds remaining in the frame.
After a scoreless second period, David Breazeale finished rebound inside the left post off of a Scott shot. The game would hold up over the final 15 minutes with the Black Bears picking up the 2-1 win.
