NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team couldn't complete the weekend sweep as they fell to the University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves by a score of 3-1 on Saturday night at Lawler Arena.
Merrimack (4-10-1, 2-6-1): 1, Alaska-Anchorage (4-11-2): 3
After a stop and start first period, Max Lundgren turned away all 11 shots he faced, but after two penalties taken in the final minute, the Warriors would start the second period down two players.
Alaska-Anchorage would take advantage scoring the game's ice breaker in the first 30 seconds. The Warriors would then kill off a five-minute major at the midway point of the period but couldn't pick up the momentum as the Seawolves doubled their lead with three minutes to play.
In the third, the Warriors got a jolt, as a bounce of the initial shot from Colby Enns found the stick of Tyler Young who jammed it home to cut the lead to one. The Warriors would pull their goaltender in the final minutes but the Seawolves scored their third and final goal on a defensive zone faceoff win.
