WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team hosted No. 10 Boston College for the Holiday Toy Drive game on Saturday, Dec. 6. The Crusaders etched their names into the history books for the second time this season against the Eagles, claiming the series victory with the 2-1 overtime win.
BETWEEN THE PIPES:
- Holy Cross: Abby Hornung (W, 4-5-0), 38 saves
- Boston College: Bailey Callaway (L, 1-2-0), 25 saves
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first period, the Eagle's Sammy Taber converted on the power-play off the faceoff at 1:27, assisted by Abby Newhook.
- Neither team scored in the second period.
- Late in the third period, senior forward Mackenzie King tied the score 1-1 after slipping the puck past the goalie in a scramble in front of the net. King forced the game into overtime and junior assistant captain Alexia Moreau assisted her.
- At 2:46 in overtime, Moreau netted the game-winner on her own for the 2-1 OT victory.
- No. 10 Boston College led Holy Cross 39-27 in shots on goal and 32-27 in face-offs to conclude the game.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
- King's 100th game played
- Moreau scored her fifth goal, third game-winner and had her fifth assist of the season
- King scored her third goal of the year
- First series win over Boston College in program history
