STORRS, Conn. - The No. 13/14 ranked UConn women's hockey team shutout the Merrimack Warriors, 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. With the win the Huskies move to 7-2 in Hockey East and 8-6 overall this season.
UConn opened the scoring in the first period off the stick of junior forward Kyla Josifovic, her third of the season, giving the Huskies an early 1-0 lead.
UConn went into the first intermission with the one goal lead. Shots favored the Huskies 15-4 in the first frame.
Junior forward Brooke Campbell doubled UConn's lead in the second period, her third of the season.
UConn led 2-0 going into the second intermission as shots favored the Huskies 11-5 in the second period.
UConn goaltender Tia Chan earned her second shutout of the season for the Huskies, making 13 saves in the game.
