BOSTON, Mass. - A two-goal performance by junior Lily Shannon delivered the Northeastern women's hockey team a 2-1 victory over the Maine Black Bears on Friday evening at Matthews Arena.
- Shannon took the puck coast-to-coast to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead at the 8:27 mark of the first period. Freshman Tuva Kandell and junior Jules Constantinople picked up assists on the opening tally.
- Maine tied the game at the 16:27 mark to bring the score to 1-1. A scoreless second period gave way to a tense third.
- Just 2:11 into the final frame, Shannon capitalized on chaos in front of Maine's net to pot the eventual game-winner with helpers from senior Taze Thompson and Kandell. Maine attempted to equalize when they pulled its goalie towards the end of the period, but NU held on to secure the 2-1 victory.
- Freshman goaltender Lisa Jönsson posted 30 saves in her third-straight start and victory. It marks the second game in a row she has 30 or more saves.
- Kandell finished with the first multi-point game of her career after posting two assists.
Northeastern and Maine will close out the two-game series on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1:30 p.m. in Matthews Arena.
