HAMDEN, Conn. - Three different Wildcats found the back of the net and junior goaltender Jared Whale (Calgary, Alberta) made 17 saves the as University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated No. 10 Quinnipiac, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon at M&T Bank Arena in non-conference action. The Wildcats split the two-game series with the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac had gone 39 consecutive games without a home regulation loss, with the last occurring on Feb. 25, 2022 to Cornell.
Junior forward Cy LeClerc (Brentwood, N.H.), sophomore forward Nick Ring (Hingham, Mass.) and sophomore forward J.P. Turner (East Falmouth, Mass.) each scored for UNH.
The Wildcats improve to 2-1-1 overall, while the Bobcats fall to 2-3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first period went scoreless as the Bobcats outshot the Wildcats, 7-6.
- The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead at 12:25 of the second period when LeClerc skated to the edge of goalie crease and sent the puck to the upper stick side of the net for his first goal of the season. Senior forward Robert Cronin (Plymouth, Mass.) posted an assist on the goal.
- UNH increased the lead to 2-0 at 18:36 with a power play goal by Ring who blasted a one-timer from the slot to the back of the net off a pass by senior forward Liam Devlin (Needham, Mass.). Sophomore forward Ryan Conmy (Alexandria, Va.) also tallied an assist. The goal was the second of the season for Ring.
- The Bobcats cut the deficit to 2-1 at 7:58 of the third period when Travis Treloar knocked in a one-timer to the lower glove side of the net while on the power play.
- The Wildcats answered just 23 seconds later when Turner netted his first goal of the season at 8:23 to give UNH a 3-1 lead with a shot from the slot glove side. LeClerc recorded an assist on the goal.
- With just 3:19 remaining in the third period, the Bobcats made it a 3-2 game with a goal by Tyler Borgula.
- Quinnipiac then went with the empty net but were unable to score the equalizer for the 3-2 Wildcat win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- UNH outshot QU, 33-19.
- The Wildcats went 1-3 on the power play, while the Bobcats went 1-2.
- Whale made 17 saves to improve to 2-1-1, while Dylan Silverstein tallied 30 saves and as is now 1-2-0.
