ORONO, Maine - The #6 University of Maine men's ice hockey team battled back from a two-goal deficit for a 2-2 tie and a shootout win over Northeastern on Saturday night at Matthews Arena.
The Huskies struck two minutes into the contest and then doubled the lead in the first two minutes of the second period. The Black Bears finally got on the board at the 12:16 mark of the second period when Brandon Holt fired home a power-play tally.
Midway through the third period, Oskar Komarov forechecked and won the puck on the hashmarks. Komarov turned to find Sully Scholle in the slot for a finish.
Neither team found the back of the net in overtime but Charlie Russell and Scholle converted in the shootout and Albin Boija stopped two Northeastern attempts for the extra Hockey East point.
