HAMILTON, New York - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell to the No. 6 ranked Colgate Saturday night after the Black Bears held the lead for the first 43 minutes of the game.
A first-period goal scored by Mikayla Boarder drove Maine's momentum through the first two periods. Stephanie Jacob picked up the assist for her third career point. At the end of the second period, Maine was called for a five-minute major penalty. It wasn't until the final seconds of the penalty kill that Colgate snuck one in past netminder Kiia Lahtinen.
Colgate added an even-strength goal and an empty netter in the final few minutes to make it 1-4.
Kiia Lahtinen made 26 saves on 29 shots.
