STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's hockey team defeated the New Hampshire Wildcats, 2-0 on Saturday night at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. The Huskies move to 2-0 in Hockey East play and 3-3 overall on the season.
Senior goalkeeper Tia Chan started in net for the Huskies. Chan finished with 25 saves in the contest.
The game was scoreless going into the first intermission with shots in favor of the Huskies, 26-9.
UConn took the lead two minutes into the second period as sophomore defender Maya Serdachny tallied her first career goal, putting the Huskies in front, 1-0.
The Huskies doubled their lead ten minutes later in the second period. Freshman forward Claire Murdoch scored in her second straight game, giving the Toronto, Ontario native three goals in her young career. UConn went into the second intermission with a 2-0 lead.
The Huskies closed out the third period unblemished, earning their first shutout of the season.
