BOSTON - In its first shutout of the season, the Boston University women's ice hockey team topped No. 12/13 Northeastern 4-0 at Agganis Arena on Saturday afternoon.

BU (2-3-0, 2-1-0 HE) got on the board early in the first thanks to freshman Lola Reid's takeaway goal. The Terriers held their momentum through the second and tacked on a goal from junior Riley Walsh just 7:34 into the third. Northeastern pulled its goaltender and BU added two empty net goals, from juniors Sydney Healey and Clara Yuhn, to solidify the 4-0 win for BU's first shutout over the Huskies since 2010.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- BU opened the scoring at 4:26 when Reid stole the puck from the Huskies at the point and fired off a shot that found the back of the net.

- Northeastern served a penalty for slashing a few minutes later but the Huskies killed the power play chance for BU.

- BU went on the power play three times and on the penalty kill once in the second frame but did not score despite the extra skater advantage, keeping it 1-0 in BU's favor headed into the third.

- At the 7:34 mark in the third, junior Maeve Carey started with the puck behind the BU goal line and found Healey in the neutral zone who took the puck up the ice and crossed to Walsh, who scored from the slot to give BU the 2-0 advantage.

- BU went on the penalty kill twice in the third and was successful both times.

- The Terriers' last power play chance came with 4:46 left in the game but the Huskies killed the penalty.

- Northeastern pulled its goaltender with less than three minutes left in the game and BU capitalized on the empty net.

- Junior Maeve Kelly and senior Maggie Hanzel got the puck to Healey, who scored BU's first empty net goal of the game.

- Northeastern put its netminder back in briefly but pulled her again which gave the Terriers another opportunity on the empty net.

- Senior Tamara Giaquinto passed to Yuhn who put the final goal in between the posts to lift BU to a 4-0 win over the Huskies.


GAME NOTES

- Healey, who was +2 on the day, led BU in shots with five.

- The Terriers held Northeastern to three shots in the second. Overall, BU outshot Northeastern 28 to 25.

- BU was 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and went 9-for-9 in the weekend series.

- BU is now 2-0-0 against Northeastern at Agganis Arena.

- This marks Shanahan's fourth career shutout.
