STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's hockey team lost 4-2 to the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday afternoon at the Toscano Family Ice Forum.
The game was scoreless going into the first intermission with shots in favor of Penn State 13-6.
UConn opened the scoring in the second period on the power play as Christina Walker scored her first goal of the season, putting the Huskies in front, 1-0.
Penn State responded, scoring three goals to close out the second period, putting the Nittany Lions ahead 3-1.
The Huskies fought back, scoring a goal with 15:34 left in the third period, making it 3-2. Junior defender Meghane Duchesne-Chalifoux netted her first goal of the season as the Huskies took advantage of the power play once again.
UConn continued to push for an equalizer, recording 15 shots in the final 15 minutes.
Penn State sealed the game, scoring their fourth goal on an open net with three seconds left.
