BOSTON- Powered by a four-point night from senior Skylar Irving, the No. 13 Northeastern women's hockey team downed the No. 10/9 Quinnipiac Bobcats, 4-2, on Friday night at Matthews Arena.
In addition to Irving's multi-point outing, freshman Éloïse Caron recorded a three-point night for the Huskies, notching one goal and two assists. Irving's four points tied her career-high.
- A three-goal first period saw each side get on the scoreboard, with Northeastern holding a 2-1 edge. Senior Taze Thompson capitalized on the power-play to score her first of the season and NU's first of the game with assists from Caron and Irving.
- Quinnipiac tied the game at 1-1 at the 11:36 mark of the first frame with a power-play goal of its own. The Huskies retook the lead at 2-1 before the end of the first frame, with Caron scoring as she took a feed from Irving the length of the ice.
- A mere 20 seconds into the third period, Irving scored her third goal in as many games to put the Huskies up 3-1. Irving's tally was assisted by Caron and senior Tory Mariano.
- The Bobcats pulled their goalie and scored an extra attacker goal to push the score to 3-2. Graduate student Jaden Bogden pushed the Husky lead back to two with an empty-net goal to bring the final score to 4-2.
- Senior Paige Taborski picked up her second win of the season, notching a career-high 33 saves in net.
The Huskies and Bobcats will close out their two-game series on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. in Matthews Arena.
