STORRS, Conn. - The No. 9 ranked UConn women's hockey team defeated the No. 12 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions, 3-2 on Friday afternoon at Toscano Family Ice Forum.

Senior goalkeeper Tia Chan started in net for the Huskies. Chan finished with 21 saves in the contest.

The game was scoreless going into the first intermission with shots in favor of Penn State 7-4.

Penn State opened the scoring with 4:45 left in the second period. Stella Retrum gave the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead. UConn led in shots 6-5 in the second period.

Penn State doubled their lead 56 seconds into the third period off the stick of Mya Vaslet, putting UConn two goals down.

Senior forward Brianna Ware kicked started the Huskies comeback, scoring on the power play, her second goal of the season to make it 2-1.

Freshman forward Claire Murdoch tied the game at two with six minutes to go in the game, tallying her first career goal. Senior captain Ava Rinker put Murdoch through on goal with a great pass. Rinker assisted all three of UConn's goals.

Junior forward Brooke Campbell scored the game winner with three minutes left in regulation, scoring her first goal of the season.
