UConn Edged By Minnesota In Overtime, 3-2

STORRS, Conn. - The No. 9 ranked UConn women's hockey team lost in overtime to No. 2/3 Minnesota, 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

UConn opened the scoring as senior forward Riley Grimley tallied her first goal of the season. Grimley re-directed a shot on goal from Jada Habisch, putting the Huskies in front. This was Grimley's 13th career goal.

UConn's goalkeeper Megan Warrener made a career high 45 saves in the game. The senior came up big in the second period, making 14 saves and keeping the Gophers off the scoreboard. Warrener's biggest save of the game came with five minutes to go in the second period as the senior saved a Minnesota penalty shot.

Minnesota's Josefin Bouveng tied the game at one 26 seconds into the third period. UConn responded right away as senior forward Brianna Ware put the Huskies back in front just 21 seconds after Minnesota's goal. Ware now has eight career goals.

Minnesota tied the game again off the stick of Natalie Mlynkova with six minutes left to go in regulation, knotting the game at two and sending the game to overtime.

Minnesota found the game winner 49 seconds into overtime, as the Gophers leading scorer Abbey Murphy netted her third goal in two games.
