ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team dropped their home opener to the number 10-ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats on Friday night by a score of 0-7.
The #10 Bobcats' Maya Labad opened the scoring six and a half minutes into the game, followed by a second goal from Mikayla Watson late in the first. #10 Quinnipiac built on their early lead by adding three more goals in the second period and two more in the third.
Netminder Julia Bachetti stopped 25 shots on goal for Maine. Sophomore forward Raegan Wurm had a career-high of five shots on goal, and the team went 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
Maine faces off with #10 Quinnipiac for the series finale on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 3:00 pm at Alfond Arena.
