STORRS, Conn. - The No. 9 ranked UConn women's hockey team lost to No. 2/3 Minnesota, 4-1 on Friday night at the Toscano Family Ice Forum.
Minnesota jumped on the Huskies from the start, scoring all four of their goals in the first period. Abbey Murphy opened the scoring for Minnesota in the first 30 seconds of the first period. The Golden Gophers doubled their lead two minutes later off the stick of Emma Kreisz. Minnesota scored their third goal on the power play a few minutes later from Chloe Primerano, making it 3-0 just five minutes into the game. Murphy notched Minnesota's fourth goal just before the first intermission.
UConn's Megan Woodworth got the Huskies on the board seven minutes into the second period, making it 4-1. This is the eleventh career goal for the junior from Berwick, Nova Scotia.
UConn's goalkeeper Tia Chan did well to slow the potent Minnesota attack making 27 saves in the second and third periods. The senior finished with 34 saves.
