BOSTON, Mass. - The No. 11 ranked UConn women's ice hockey team nailed down a 4-0 victory on the road over the Boston University Terriers to clinch the title as regular season champions for the first time in program history Friday night.

Junior forward Brianna Ware and senior forward Jada Habisch both finished with two points each; a goal and an assist each. Junior goaltender Tia Chan had her seventh shutout of the season including 26 saves.

In the first, the Huskies wound find themselves working to fight out the tough Terriers offense throughout the period. By the end of the first, the Terriers led in shots on goal with nine to UConn's five. However, the Huskies would get their scoring chance as the time ticked down to close out the period. Camryn Wong got the action going as Wong kicked the puck down ice in BU's zone. As the loose puck hovered around center ice, Brianna Ware caught up to it and sent a quick pass to her left to Kyla Josifovic. Josifovic then at point blank range fired one right past the goalie's left shoulder at top shelf. The score stayed at 1-0 after one.

UConn continued its scoring ways with a second goal three minutes into the second period. The Huskies would win the faceoff in BU's zone, as Jada Habisch quickly whipped a pass to Kathryn Stockdale in the corner to then relay a pass to Ware for the one-time rip at goal as the puck lifted past the goalies for the second point of the game. The Terrier later in the period would get a power play on a holding penalty, but the Huskies would kill it. BU only led the shots on goal totals by one with 11. The score stayed at 2-0 at the end of the second.

The Huskies kept the action rolling through the third period. UConn earned its first power play of the game on a slashing penalty and soon after UConn got another power play on a cross checking call, but both penalties were killed. Then, a scoring sequence opened up for the Huskies as Habisch interrupted a pass deep in BU's zone. As Habisch rocketed one at net, the puck ricocheted off the goalie for Riley Grimley to get a stick on it. Grimley tried one, then Brooke Campbell tried again, and finally Habisch would sneak the puck past the goalie's right leg guard. The women then added another goal on an empty net for the fourth goal on the night. The final score stayed at 4-0.
