BOSTON, Mass. - Four goals from four different skaters and three Huskies with a two-point night led the Northeastern men's hockey team to a 4-0 shutout over UMass Lowell to split the weekend series.
- It was a tough battle through the first two periods of the game before the Huskies finally opened the gates with 2:58 left in the middle frame. On a great passing series, sophomore Jack Williams and Cam Lund found the stick of senior Gunnarwolfe Fontaine from the slot for 1-0 advantage.
- As the third period began, Northeastern would go on to score three unanswered goals. With his 50th career goal, senior Alex Campbell knocked on the doorstep to double the Huskies lead just 2:10 into the frame. Campbell was assisted by the Hryckowian duo, Dylan and Justin.
- Each tallying their second point of the evening, Lund forced a turnover in the neutral zone to open up Williams for his 16th goal of the year.
- With under five minutes to play, Justin Hryckowian won the faceoff in the defensive zone that led to a shorthanded, empty-net goal from graduate student Pito Walton to capitalize the 4-0 victory.
- Freshman goaltender Cameron Whitehead claimed his second shutout of the season, totaling 42 saves on the night.
- Walton finished the game with a team-high four blocks, while Justin Hryckowian led both teams with 15 faceoff wins.
The Huskies hit the road again next weekend for a pair of games with the University of Maine at Alfond Arena.
