BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Merrimack Warriors Men's Hockey team got goals from five different players as they were victorious over the Vermont Catamounts by a final score of 5-2 on Friday night at the Gutterson Fieldhouse.


The Basics

Merrimack (12-17-1, 5-14-1): 5, Vermont (11-13-3, 5-9-3): 2

After a scoreless first period, the Warriors had a goal scoring explosion in the second. Ben Brar got things started and the Warriors would strike 61 seconds later as Chase Stevenson initial shot was batted into the net by a Vermont defender to take the lead 2-0.

The Catamounts would cut the lead back to one, 23 seconds later but Merrimack would re-establish the two goal lead as Frank Djurasevic scored the Warriors third goal of the period. Moments later, Filip Forsmark found Zach Bookman who found the back of the net to make the score 4-1. Vermont would score the sixth goal of the period to make the deficit two goals with a minute to go.

In the third period, Merrimack would get the empty netter as Adam Arvedson would hit the target from his defensive zone to close the win.


Notes and Numbers

- Ben Brar, Chase Stevenson, Frank Djurasevic, Zach Bookman and Adam Arvedson all had one goal each

- Matt Copponi had two assists along with assists from Bookman, Djurasevic, Mark Hillier, Devlin O'Brien, Alex Jefferies and Filip Forsmark.

- Hugo Ollas made 28 saves in the win.
