STORRS, Conn. - Five different players found the back of the net and Philip Svedebäck stopped all 22 shots he faced as the No. 10 Providence College men's hockey team blanked UConn, 5-0, on Friday (Feb. 2) at Toscano Ice Forum.

NOTES
- Neither team generated much offensively in the opening 14 minutes of action until UConn's Samu Salminen was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for contact to the head of Craig Needham.
- The Friars went to work on the power play and struck twice to take a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
- Hudson Malinoski netted his first goal since Nov. 24 as he wristed a shot from the top of the circles for his sixth of the season. Tanner Adams and Guillaume Richard earned assists on the play.
- Riley Duran cashed in just 35 seconds later with his third power-play goal in three games and his eighth of the season to make it a 2-0 game. Austen May and Bennett Schimek assisted on the play.
- Connecticut native Luke Krys extended the lead to 3-0 at 13:15 of the second period as he joined the rush and beat Sergeev over the blocker for his fourth goal of the season. Chase Yoder and Jamie Engelbert earned the assists.
- Needham netted Providence's fourth goal of the contest, finishing off his own rebound after a centering feed from Adams.
- Matt Hubbarde capped the scoring for the Friars with his first goal at Providence, firing a shot past Sergeev off a 2-on-1. Clint Levens earned his first collegiate point with the primary assist.
- Svedebäck posted his fourth shutout of the season and fifth of his career.
- Fourteen players registered a point for the Friars on Friday night.
