ORONO, Maine - The Merrimack Warriors Women's hockey team tied the game in the third period and then notched a 3-2 overtime win over the University of Maine Black Bears on Friday night.
The Basics
Merrimack (8-16-3, 5-12-3): 3, Maine (11-15-2, 7-12-3): 2
Merrimack jumped out to the lead in the first period as Sophie McKinley found the net at 8:34 of the first period. Maine would tie the game just over three minutes later to send the game into the first intermission tied.
The Black Bears would score the go ahead goal just past the midway point of the second period, but Merrimack for the second straight game against Maine would tie the game in the third period thanks to a tally from Mary Edmonds to send the game to overtime.
In the overtime period, Teghan Inglis would score the winner at 2:17 of the extra frame.
Notes and Numbers
- Sophie McKinley, Mary Edmonds and Teghan Inglis all had goals from Merrimack.
- Hayley Chang had two assists, and Payten Evans and Celine Tedenby had one each.
- Calli Hogarth made 32 saves in the win, her seventh of the season.
