BOSTON, Mass. - Graduate student Peyton Anderson and freshman Allie Lalonde each potted goals in the first minute of action to lead the No. 15 Northeastern women's hockey team to a 2-1 victory over the New Hampshire Wildcats on Friday night at Matthews Arena.
- Northeastern scored two goals 36 seconds apart in the first minute of the game to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Peyton Anderson scored after junior Skylar Irving won the faceoff for the Huskies, just 15 seconds into the contest.
- Freshman Allie Lalonde followed up Anderson's tally with her seventh goal of the year. Lalonde sniped in a feed from sophomore Holly Abela after sophomore Jules Constantinople striped New Hampshire of the puck.
- The Wildcats were able to get one back as the first period ended 2-1 in favor of the Huskies.
- Neither side found the back of the net in the second or third periods. UNH pulled its goaltender with 1:29 left to play to try and find the equalizer, but the Huskies staved off the Wildcats and claimed the 2-1 win for their first victory at home in 2024.
- Goaltender Gwyneth Philips finished her outing with 24 saves, including 11 in the second period.
The Huskies will next face Boston University in the Beanpot Championship hosted for the first time ever at TD Garden on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. The game will be available to watch on NESN, ESPN+ and TSN+.
