Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College women's hockey team surged past Saint Anslem 5-1 to close out 2023.
Freshman Sammy Taber picked up right where she left off. Taber scored three minutes into the first period. Captain Abby Newhook also found the back of the net in the first period to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
Heading into the second period, the Eagles continued to put pressure on the Hawks. Freshman Julia Pellerin had a breakaway opportunity where she found the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season. Caroline Goffredo capitalized on an opportunity with under a minute left in the second period to give the Eagles a four-goal cushion. To close out the third period, Taber picked up her second goal of the night and her fifth goal this season. Saint Anselm was able to sneak in a goal with under two minutes left in the game.

GAME NOTES
- BC dominated on offense; they outshot the Hawks 40-21. In the second period, the Eagles fired off 23 shots.
- Sammy Taber led the Eagles in points this afternoon; she dished out two assists and found the back of the net twice. Taber also led the team in shots with seven.
- This game saw seven penalties in total. Neither team was able to convert on their power play attempts.
- BC picked up its first nonconference this season and improved to 10-7-2.
- In the first period, Grace Campbell was in the net. She only saw five shots. Bailey Callaway was in the net for the remaining two periods; she saved 15 shots while only allowing one goal.
