ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team downed #13 Vermont for the third consecutive game by a score of 3 to 2 on Friday.
Mira Seregély and Rahel Enzler tallied first-period goals to give Maine an early lead, followed by Rahel Enzler's second goal in the final frame to lift Maine to victory.
Just eight minutes into the game, Mira Seregély picked up the puck from Kennedy Little and skated end-to-end and fired a shot over Vermont netminder, Jessie McPherson. At the end of the first period, Alyssa Wruble assisted Rahel Enzler's breakaway five-hole goal.
Vermont responded with a goal early in the second period, but netminder Julia Bachetti kept the Black Bears in the game stopping a handful of Vermont breakaway opportunities.
Rahel Enzler scored the final goal for Maine on a 2-on-1 with Mira Seregély. Jamie Grinder picked up the secondary assist. With .01 seconds left in the game, Vermont snuck one more goal in.
Julia Bachetti made 29 saves for the Black Bears, picking up her third consecutive win over ranked Vermont.
