ORONO, Maine - The UConn women's hockey team won their fifth game in a row as they shutout Maine 1-0 Friday afternoon. Senior Jada Habisch scored the lone goal for the Huskies, while Tia Chan made 21 saves in net.
The Huskies defense and goaltending once again were on display as they held their opponent scoreless for the third game in a row. The Huskies found the back of the net first, as Jada Habisch found the loose puck off a saved shot and tipped it home for the goal. Maine was unable to respond as the Huskies entered the period break with the lead.
In the second period and third period, Maine came out firing, but the Huskies defense remained strong. Tia Chan saved all 15 shots faced across the two periods, while other skaters put their bodies on the line to block shots. Maine pulled their netminder with under two minutes remaining in the game, but even with the extra skater the Black Bears were unable to find the back of the net as UConn would come away with the victory.
The Huskies will be back in action Saturday, November 11 to wrap up the two-game road trip. Puck drop is scheduled for 2pm and can be streamed live on ESPN+.
