BOSTON, Mass. - The Boston University women's ice hockey team earned its first win under head coach Tara Watchorn in its 6-1 rout over Syracuse on Saturday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena.
A lamplighter from sophomore Sydney Healey gave the Terriers momentum in the opening frame but Syracuse tied things up early in the second. BU continued to dominate and went on to score five unanswered goals, including two on the power play, through the final two periods.
Healy scored twice, the first coming unassisted and the second on the power play in the third with help from graduate student Nadia Mattivi and sophomore Clara Yuhn. Sophomore Luisa Welcke scored her first as a Terrier on the power play with help from sophomore Lilli Welcke and senior Julua Shaunessy. Freshman Alex Law netted her first collegiate goal with help from Yuhn and senior Lacey Martin found the back of the net off passes from junior Maggie Hanzel and senior Tamara Giaquinto. Senior Catherine Foulem added to BU's dominance with a goal late in the third with assists from Mattivi and Healey.
Freshman goaltender Mari Pietersen recorded her first win in net with 12 saves.

- Yuhn sent a pass across to Mattivi who found Healey at the crease as she scored BU's second power-play goal of the afternoon at the 16:03 mark.
