PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 10/13 Providence College men's hockey team rallied to a win on Saturday, October 21 at Schneider Arena, topping Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a 4-2 final score. The Friars crawled back after an early 2-0 deficit, paced by a pair of shorthanded goals by senior captain Chase Yoder.

NOTES
- The Engineers opened Saturday's scoring midway through the first period as sophomore center Danny Ciccarello found the back of the net. Assisting on the play were senior Jack Brackett and sophomore John Evans.
- With just under a minute left in the first frame, Rensselaer forward Ryan Brushett lit the lamp to double the Engineers' advantage 2-0. Tallying assists on the scoring effort were Sutter Muzzatti and Nick Strom.
- The Friars offense came alive just over six minutes into the second period, as captain Chase Yoder fired the puck between the pipes to bring Providence within a goal of the Engineers. Assisting on the shorthanded play was alternate captain Craig Needham.
- Hudson Malinoski found the equalizer for the Friars late in the second period, tying the game at 2-2 with just under four minutes to go. Defensemen Taige Harding and Cam McDonald tallied assists on the scoring effort.
- The Friars' shorthanded team once again found success on offense, as Yoder scored the game-winning goal at the 11:37 mark in the third period. Nick Poisson registered the solo assist on the play.
- Craig Needham iced the game for the Friars, scoring into an empty net with just over a minute left in regulation play to give the Friars the final 4-2 decision. Jamie Engelbert and Jaroslav Chmelar assisted on the goal.
- The Friars penalty-kill was once again the deciding factor for Providence, as two of the four goals, including the game-winner, were found on shorthanded play. Providence went 14-of-15 on the penalty kill this weekend over two games.
- Six different Friars tallied assists in the win over Rensselaer.
- Riley Duran and Cal Kiefiuk paced the Friars with four shots apiece in Saturday's victory.
- Providence improves to a perfect 3-0 on home ice in 2023-24.
