SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The sixth-ranked Boston University men's ice hockey team scored five times in the first period en route to an 8-2 victory over Notre Dame on Saturday night at Compton Family Ice Arena.

Freshman Shane Lachance scored the first two goals of his collegiate career while classmate Macklin Celebrini also lit the lamp twice. Freshman Aiden Celebrini also scored his first goal as a Terrier and assisted on another. HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hutson opened the scoring just 3:40 into the proceedings when his wrist shot from the top of the right circle sailed over Ryan Bischel's glove and into the back of the net.
- Macklin Celebrini made it 2-0 just 1:04 later with a sensational effort. He gathered the puck above the right circle, dangled through two Irish defenders and then sent an off-balance wrister past Bischel.
- Notre Dame got within one just 36 seconds after Celebrini's goal, but BU needed only 59 seconds to respond. Wilmer and Peterson completed a give-and-go in the offensive end, with Peterson finishing the play for his first goal of the season.
- Tuch followed that with an unassisted strike just 1:22 later, as he stole the puck in his own zone, created a 2-on-1 with Kaplan and fired the puck past Bischel.
- Lachance closed the scoring in the first with a sensational redirection at the 9:31 mark. He then began the second stanza with the Terriers' sixth goal of the night, slotting home a rebound off a Stevens shot during a 2-on-1.
- Aiden Celebrini made it 7-1 just 1:01 later with a wicked wrister from the top of the zone, with his brother pushing the lead to 8-1 at the 6:19 mark with a sensational shot on a power play.
- Junior Mathieu Caron was terrific in the third period, stopping 16 of 17 shots as the Irish tried to get back into the game. He finished the contest with 28 saves.
