BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team (0-2-1, 0-2-0 HE) tied Syracuse (3-4-1, 0-0-0 CHA) 4-4 on Friday evening at Walter Brown Arena.
After Syracuse built an early lead in the opening period, BU pulled ahead 3-2 late in the second. Syracuse tied things up two additional times in the final frame to force the game into overtime. No one scored during the extra minutes which led to a shootout that had no effect on the outcome of the tie.
Junior Maggie Hanzel lit the lamp for the Terriers with her first-ever collegiate goal. Graduate student Nadia Mattivi, sophomore Brooke Disher and senior Lacey Martin all scored their first goals of the season in the tie. Freshman Alex Law, sophomores Luisa Welcke, Sydney Healey, Clara Yuhn and Mattivi logged assists across the four goals. In the shootout, Law was the only Terrier to find the back of the net.
In her second start for the Terriers, freshman netminder Mari Pietersen made 16 saves.

- Syracuse made the most of being back to full strength and scored on the power play to tie the game yet again.
- Just 23 seconds later, Mattivi poked the puck free in the neutral zone towards Yuhn who sent it across the ice to Martin who dodged defenders to slide the puck across the goal line at the crease.
- BU's lead lasted a few minutes before Syracuse took the puck up the ice to score its fourth and final goal.
- An even end to the period led into overtime that saw no goals scored despite multiple chances for both the Terriers and the Orange.
